I hear the PCI slot CAN be used with a 3.5″ HDD but its tight. Have you tried and/or could you? Also I wonder if you could sling a 3.5″ HDD under the optical drive? Any views since you have the case and I don’t!!??

Yeah, the single core Atom models are probably a bit underpowered. The Eeebox B208 (dual-core Atom 330) looks pretty tasty though.

We’ll have to wait and see the UK pricing though – I suspect it’s likely to be £400+ in which case not such good value.

I wish Asus (and others) would take a leaf out of Apple’s book and ship only a few bits of kit, fully-specced but competitively priced for volume sales instead of trying to hit every price-point with a short-lived model. It gets confusing with all the variations of the same thing and you’re always left waiting for the next model because the current one only does 90% of what you need.

I’ve tried that ASUS HD and it’s not that great for playing 1080p mkv files.
